Liu Jieyi heads a CPC goodwill delegation to Samoa

SUVA, March 12 -- At the invitation of the governing Human Rights Protection Party, a CPC goodwill delegation headed by Vice Minister Liu Jieyi of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee visited Samoa on the 11th and 12th, meeting respectively with Tuilaepa Malielegaoi, prime minister and foreign minister of the Samoan government and leader of the governing party, La'auli Leuatea Polata'iva, speaker of the Samoan parliament, and Palusalue Faapo, leader of the opposition Tautua Samoa Party, and holding talks with Samoan political leaders who have visited China as members of the study groups of politicians of Pacific island countries over the recent two years.

Liu gave a briefing on the 18th National Congress of the CPC and the annual sessions of the NPC and CPPCC National Committee, stressing that China's future development path as mapped out at the Party Congress will bring important opportunities to other countries, and that China is committed to strengthening solidarity and cooperation with other developing countries to jointly safeguard their legitimate rights and interests. He reaffirmed China's willingness to strengthen exchanges and deepen cooperation with Samoa to further promote the development of China-Samoa relations.

The Samoan side expressed thanks to China over its selfless assistance to Samoa over the years, hoping to further strengthen exchanges and expand cooperation with China for common development. Both governing and opposition parties hope to increase exchanges with the CPC to constantly advance bilateral relations.
