Wang Jiarui meets with Australian Foreign Minister

BEIJING, Dec. 6 -- Wang Jiarui, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Julie Bishop, deputy leader of the Liberal Party and minister for foreign affairs of Australia.

Wang said that the CPC learns about the world through understanding about foreign political parties and the outside world needs to learn about the CPC in order to understand China. Through their exchanges, the CPC and Australian political parties including the Liberal Party have increased mutual understanding and friendship, which contributes to the development of China-Australia strategic partnership. The CPC is willing to continue close contacts with Australian political parties to draw reference from each other and benefit people of the two countries. He also briefed the guests on the third Plenum of the 18th CPC Central Committee and shared his views on the current China-Australia relations.

On her part, Bishop happily recalled her visit to China heading a shadow cabinet delegation of the Liberal-National coalition a year ago upon the invitation of the International Department. She agrees that political parties of the two countries should continue close exchanges and cooperation, reaffirming that the coalition party government attaches high importance to relations with China and is committed to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields. She said that China's comprehensive deepening of reforms will bring new opportunities for depending and expanding Australia-China cooperation and that Australia will be China's long-term and reliable cooperation partner.
