Liu Jianchao Meets with Toshimitsu Motegi, Secretary-General of the LDP of Japan

Tokyo, May 29th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Toshimitsu Motegi, Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan.  


Liu said, the ruling party is the source of a country's domestic and foreign policies and an important force leading the country's development. At present, China-Japan relations are in a crucial period of bridging the past and the future, and the ruling parties of the two countries need to make joint efforts to promote the sound and stable development of China-Japan relations in the right direction. The CPC attaches importance to its relations with the LDP and is willing to work together to implement the important consensus reached by General Secretary Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the meeting in San Francisco, strengthen exchanges in various fields and at all levels, enhance friendship between the two peoples, exchange in-depth views on issues of common interest, and build consensus and wisdom for building China-Japan relations that meet the requirements of the new era. The Chinese side is ready to restart the exchange mechanism between the ruling parties with the Japanese side at an early date.  

Toshimitsu Motegi said, in November last year, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met with President Xi Jinping in San Francisco, where they reaffirmed the general direction of advancing the Japan-China strategic relationship of mutual benefit and building a constructive and stable Japan-China relationship. A few days ago, the Japanese and Chinese heads of government reached an agreement on this again, which is of great significance. The two sides should jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen high-level dialogue and communication, carry out exchanges at various levels and in various fields, promote bilateral cooperation for tangible results, and maintain communication on unresolved issues between the two countries. Inter-party exchanges play an important role in Japan-China relations, and the LDP is willing to restart the exchange mechanism between ruling parties with the CPC to strengthen exchanges and dialogue and promote the improvement and development of bilateral relations.
