Vladivostok, June 17th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Adem Farah, Vice President and General Secretary of the Prosperity Party (PP) of Ethiopia.  

Liu Jianchao said, China and Ethiopia are good brothers, good friends and good partners. In October last year, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during his visit to China, elevating bilateral ties to an all-weather strategic partnership, opening up broad prospects for the future development of China-Ethiopia relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Ethiopian side to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction, economy, trade, investment, etc., and promote bilateral relations for greater development.  

Liu Jianchao said, the CPC is ready to work with the PP to take the important consensus of the top leaders of the two Parties as guidance, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields. China welcomes Ethiopia's joining the BRICS cooperation mechanism and is willing to strengthen cooperation with the Ethiopian side under the framework of the BRICS and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promote solidarity and cooperation among developing countries, and facilitate the building of a more just and reasonable international order.  

Adem Farah said, Ethiopia and China have a long-standing friendship. The Ethiopian side thanks the Chinese side for the selfless help and support for Ethiopia's national development. Last year, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid a historic visit to China and jointly elevated Ethiopia-China relations with President Xi Jinping. This has greatly inspired Ethiopia. The Ethiopian side appreciates the Chinese side's commitment to the foreign policy of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and actively supports the major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. Ethiopia thanks China for support it in joining the BRICS, and hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side such as Belt and Road cooperation, and promote the development of Ethiopia-China and Africa-China relations. The PP cherishes the friendly relations with the CPC and believes that a strong political party is the key to national development and revitalization. He expressed the hope to strengthen friendly exchanges with the CPC, learn from the CPC's experience in party building and state governance, and push the development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries.  

The two sides stressed that the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence are the basic norms of international relations. The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Horn of Africa, unanimously expressed opposition to using the Horn of Africa as an arena for geopolitical games, and will jointly maintain regional peace and stability, to promote development and prosperity.
