Beijing, July 11th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) cadres led by Petar Petkovic, a member of the Presidium of the SNS and Director of the Office for Kosovo of the Serbian Government.
Liu stated that in May this year, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Serbia and, together with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, made significant strategic decisions to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, thereby building a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era. Over the years, the relationship between the two countries has withstood the test of history, demonstrating high-level political mutual trust, mutual respect, and equality. In recent years, China-Serbia friendship has further deepened, resulting in fruitful cooperation across various fields, and bilateral relations have entered a new stage of comprehensive and rapid development. The Chinese side appreciates Serbia’s firm support for China’s core interests and will continue to support Serbia’s efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Liu emphasized that the CPC and the SNS, as the ruling parties of their respective countries, should jointly implement the strategic consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen friendly exchanges, deepen the exchange of experience in party governance and state administration, and leverage the role of inter-party communication channels as bridges in cooperation across various fields between the two countries. This will contribute to the modernization processes of both nations. Faced with a complex and ever-changing international landscape, the two parties should enhance communication and coordination in multilateral affairs, practice genuine multilateralism, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Liu also introduced the ongoing party discipline study and education campaign of the CPC.
Petar Petkovic expressed that Serbia and China are “ironclad” friends. Serbia firmly adheres to the One-China principle and stands steadfastly with China on all issues concerning China’s core interests, supporting the three major global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. As the first European country to build a community with a shared future with China, the Serbian side is willing to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges at all levels between the two parties and two countries, deepen the exchange of experience in party governance and state administration, and advance cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, investment, and major projects under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. This will further develop relations between the two parties and the two countries. The Serbian side consistently upholds independence and is willing to strengthen multilateral cooperation with the Chinese side, uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, oppose hegemony and power politics, and jointly defend global fairness and justice. Petkovic thanked the Chinese side for supporting the Serbian side in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity and expressed a desire to continue mutual support with the Chinese side.
Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, and Nemanja Starovic, a member of the Presidium of the SNS and Minister for Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of Serbia, also attended the meeting.
