Beijing, July 11th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation led by Ghadir Nezamipour, Chairman of the Political, Defense and Security Commission of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council (EDC).
Liu said, China-Iran relationship is of great strategic value to both sides. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two countries' top leaders, bilateral relations have become closer. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Iranian side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen communication and exchanges at all levels, deepen cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road cooperation, continue to support each other on issues involving respective core interests, and promote the continuous development of China-Iran relations.
Liu said, the CPC attaches great importance to its friendly relations with the EDC, and is willing to strengthen strategic communication and institutionalized exchanges with the EDC, promote cooperation between think tanks and research institutions of the two sides, and advance exchanges between the two civilizations. China and Iran are both developing countries and members of the Global South. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Iranian side within the framework of multilateral mechanisms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, and work for a more just and equitable international order.
Nezamipour said, the delegation gained a full understanding of the tremendous achievements China has made in developing economy and improving people's livelihood, and realized the huge potential for Iran-China cooperation through visits to China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Shandong Province. The Iranian side has always seen developing relations with China as a strategic priority in its foreign policy, and is willing to, together with the Chinese side, actively implement the Document of Comprehensive Cooperation between Iran and China, strengthen exchanges and cooperation of think tanks and at sub-national level, and promote the continuous development of bilateral relations. The EDC is willing to maintain friendly exchanges with the IDCPC and promote exchanges and cooperation between Iran and China in various fields. The Iranian side thanks the Chinese side for contributing to the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and for supporting Iran in joining the SCO and BRICS. It supports the Chinese side in playing a greater role in maintaining regional peace and stability, and is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side on international and regional affairs to jointly safeguard international fairness and justice.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Ukraine crisis.
