Santiago, August 7th—Chilean President Gabriel Boric met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Welcoming the CPC delegation led by Liu Jianchao to Chile, Boric said, Chile attaches great importance to its relations with China and is the first South American country to establish diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China. In recent years, Chile-China relations have developed rapidly with fruitful cooperation in various fields. Amid current international volatility, the major-country competition is intensifying, and various challenges keep emerging. Chile highly appreciates that China upholds peaceful development, mutual benefit and win-win results and does not engage in political confrontation. China's development will not make China a threat to other countries, and China will become a more important partner. Chile will strengthen cooperation with China in various fields, enhance multilateral coordination and cooperation, safeguard world peace and promote common development.
Liu said, President Gabriel Boric paid a successful visit to China last year and reached important consensus with President Xi Jinping on further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Chilean side to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen high-level exchanges, promote practical cooperation in economy, trade and other fields, push for greater development of China-Chile relations and bring more benefits to the two peoples. China and Chile, the two Global South countries and emerging economies, share similar views on many international and regional issues. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation in APEC and other multilateral institutions to promote the building of a more just and reasonable international order. The CPC is willing to strengthen political dialogue with Chilean political parties to deepen mutual understanding and enhance respective governance capabilities, so as to better benefit the two peoples. Liu also introduced the main situation of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
