Santiago, August 8th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with leaders of Chile's opposition parties, including the National Renewal, Independent Democratic Union, Political Evolution. etc. 

Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Chile, bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development for a long time, bringing tangible benefits to the two people. China-Chile friendship is the policy position that China has always adhered to, and also the broad consensus among successive administrations, political parties and all sectors of society in Chile. The CPC is willing to strengthen political dialogues and concept exchanges with all political parties in Chile, enhance mutual understanding, deepen mutual learning of experience in party building and state governance, promote exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, science, technology, people-to-people and cultural engagement, education, etc., and promote the steady and long-term development of relations between the two countries. Liu also introduced the connotation and practical path of China's whole-process people’s democracy. 

Leaders of the political parties said that Chile-China relations have set many records, which Chile is proud of. Although political parties of Chile have different policies and concepts, they have broad consensus on developing friendship with China, adhering to the one-China principle, and strengthening cooperation between Chile and China. The political parties hope to strengthen exchanges and dialogues with the CPC, promote cooperation in economy, trade, infrastructure, and environmental protection, and promote greater development of bilateral relations. 

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
