Santiago, August 8th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with José García Ruminot, President of the Senate of Chile.
Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Chile, the two countries have always maintained robust development of bilateral relations, regardless of the changes in the international landscape. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Chilean side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, promote the upgrading of economic and trade cooperation, advance exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, science and technology and other fields, and create a sound environment for cooperation between enterprises of the two countries. Both China and Chile firmly support multilateralism and free trade. The Chinese side is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chilean side in international and regional affairs and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The Chinese side appreciates the Chilean parliament's adherence to friendship with China and is willing to strengthen exchanges between the two countries' legislatures and political parties to push China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership for further development. Liu also introduced the relevant situation of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
García said, Chile and China have a traditional friendship. China is Chile's largest trading partner. In recent years, the import and export of products such as agricultural products between the two sides has continued to expand, benefiting the people of both countries. The Chilean side congratulates China on its great development achievements, and hopes to strengthen cultural, sports, youth and sub-national exchanges and cooperation on the basis of expanding and strengthening the traditional trade between the two countries, and strengthen the bond between the two peoples. The Chilean parliament adheres to a friendly policy toward China and hopes to strengthen exchanges with China's legislature, better understand the organizational structure and governing philosophy of the CPC, learn experience in governance at the primary level from the Chinese side, and jointly promote the development of bilateral relations. With various challenges in the turbulent international landscape, the Chilean side is ready to strengthen multilateral cooperation with the Chinese side to jointly maintain world peace and stability and promote development and prosperity.
