Liu Jianchao Meets with Bahlil Lahadalia, Chairman of the Golkar Party and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia

Jakarta, January 17th— Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Bahlil Lahadalia, Chairman of the Golkar Party and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia. 


Liu said that in recent years, under the joint guidance and promotion of the two heads of state, China-Indonesia relations have developed rapidly, with fruitful results in practical cooperation in such fields as economy and trade. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Indonesian side to follow the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto, consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, steadily promote cooperation in traditional industries, and at the same time expand cooperation in emerging fields such as information technology, digital economy and artificial intelligence. The Chinese side is willing to encourage Chinese enterprises to respond to Indonesia’s industrial policy adjustments, and increase investment in Indonesia, so as to achieve common development. The Chinese side welcomes Indonesia’s entry into BRICS and is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Indonesia in international and regional affairs. 

Liu expressed that the Golkar Party has a long history and plays an important role in Indonesia’s economic and social development. The CPC attaches great importance to its relations with the Golkar Party, and is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges and dialogues between the two Parties, enhance exchanges at all levels, and deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration. 


Bahlil said that in recent years, the cooperation between China and Indonesia in economy, trade, investment and other fields has developed rapidly, contributing to the improvement of the well-being of the two peoples. I had accompanied Indonesian leaders on visits to China successively as Minister of Investment and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and witnessed the tremendous development and changes in China. Currently, Indonesia is vigorously promoting the industrial down streaming and welcomes the active participation of Chinese enterprises. Indonesia is rich in natural resources, while China has a large market and advanced technologies. The practical cooperation between the two sides is highly complementary. Indonesia is willing to increase cooperation with China in fields such as fishery, agriculture, and forestry to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. The Golkar Party once governed Indonesia for more than 30 years and is now the second largest party in the parliament. It offers talent support and makes important contributions to Indonesia’s national development. The Golkar Party hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC and jointly promote exchanges among parliaments and political parties under the BRICS mechanism.
