Beijing, May 19th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of students from the Baucus Institute of the University of Montana of the US led by Max Baucus, former US Ambassador to China and former Democratic member of the Senate.

Liu welcomed the delegation to the IDCPC and praised Ambassador Baucus's commitment to promoting the development of China-US relations and exchanges between Chinese and American youth. Liu said that China-US relations have gone through ups and downs, but the friendship between the two peoples remains unchanged. The healthy and stable development of China-US relations is in line with the common interests of the two countries and the general expectations of the international community. China's policy toward the US remains stable and continuous. China always adheres to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation to view and handle China-US relations. The future of China-US relations lies in the youth. It is hoped that the youth of both sides will maintain confidence and determination, view China-US relations from a long-term perspective, and contribute to the future development of bilateral relations.

Baucus expressed that the future of the US and China belongs to the youth, and the future of US-China relations is also in the hands of the youth. The US and China have a long history of friendly cooperation. During World War II, the people of the two countries fought side by side to fight against Japanese fascism. The "Flying Tigers" is a legendary tale of joint resistance against the Japanese invaders by the two countries and a friendship forged in the flames of war. US-China relations are of vital importance to both sides and the world. Working together and moving forward hand in hand is the only choice for both sides. We are confident in the future of US-China relations. The Baucus Institute is willing to make efforts to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Prior to the meeting, the youth representatives of the IDCPC exchanged views with the students of the Baucus Institute. The two sides discussed the future of China-US relations and expressed the willingness to strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and continue the friendship between the two peoples with practical actions.
