Beijing, May 20th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation led by Meira Hot, Vice-President of the Social Democrats Party and Vice-President of the National Assembly of Slovenia.

Liu noted that China and Slovenia have a traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than 30 years ago, the two countries have developed bilateral relations steadily, achieved fruitful results in economic and trade cooperation, and enjoyed increasingly close people-to-people and cultural exchanges. China is willing to work with Slovenia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen the Belt and Road cooperation and cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), and bring bilateral relations to a higher level. Slovenia is an important member of the European Union (EU). It is hoped that Slovenia will continue to play a constructive role in the EU and promote the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations. Both China and Slovenia are defenders and builders of the world's multilateral system. China is willing to work with Slovenia to oppose unilateralism and protectionism, practice true multilateralism, uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, and inject more certainty and stability into the world. The CPC is willing to maintain close exchanges with all political parties in Slovenia, including the Social Democrats Party, strengthen political dialogue, deepen exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, and lay a more solid foundation for the in-depth development of China-Slovenia relations.

Hot said, this is the first time for me and the members of the delegation to visit China. We are impressed by China's development. We congratulate China on the extraordinary achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have developed smoothly. Slovenia regards China as the most important partner in Asia and is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China in economy, trade, culture, education, and tourism. Slovenia is committed to playing an active role in international affairs. Slovenia appreciates China's fair position on international and regional hotspot issues and is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in multilateral mechanisms such as the UN Security Council, jointly champion multilateralism, and maintain regional and world peace and stability. The Social Democrats Party firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC.

Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, was present.
