Liu Jianchao Attends the 22nd Oslo Forum

Oslo, June 11th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended here today the opening ceremony of the 22nd Oslo Forum, which was themed “All hands on deck: mediation in a changing world”. Liu talked with Espen Barth Eide, Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, and Sergiy Kyslytsya, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Comfort Ero, the President and CEO of International Crisis Group, presided over the event. About 150 people, including government officials, think tank scholars, representatives of international organizations and non-governmental organizations from more than 50 countries and regions, were present. 

Liu answered questions about China's role in ending conflicts and helping resolve hotspot issues, and elaborated on China's position and propositions. He said that China adheres to seeking truth from facts, always delivers on its promises, and actively practices the way of resolving hotspot issues with Chinese characteristics, playing a constructive role in promoting the political resolution of issues such as the Korean Peninsula Nuclear Issue and the Myanmar issue. China has always adhered to the path of peaceful development and is willing to work with all countries to promote the building of a world of lasting peace and universal security. 

During the event, Liu also had extensive exchanges with representatives from various countries.
