Oslo, June 11th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Espen Barth Eide, Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Liu noted that the current China-Norway relationship shows sound development momentum, with growing exchanges across various fields and important achievements in practical cooperation. China is willing to work with Norway to follow the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges. China and Norway have broad consensus on maintaining world peace and security and responding to global challenges. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Norway on international and regional affairs, jointly maintain world peace and stability, and promote development and prosperity. The CPC is willing to strengthen political dialogue with the Labour Party and other political parties in Norway and north Europe to enhance mutual understanding and trust.
Eide thanked the CPC delegation for attending the 22nd Oslo Forum. He expressed that Norway attaches great importance to relations with China, appreciates China's role in international affairs, especially in resolving hotspot issues, and positively evaluates China's position on issues such as the Palestinian issue. Built on trade, Norway firmly supports free trade and open cooperation. The Labour Party of Norway is willing to maintain close exchanges with the CPC and supports the political parties in north Europe in strengthening exchanges and dialogue with the CPC.
The two sides also had in-depths exchange of views on international and regional issues of common concern, including the Ukraine crisis.
