Oslo, June 12th—Jonas Gahr Støre, Leader of the Labour Party and Prime Minister of Norway, met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC).
Støre welcomed the CPC delegation, which visited Norway and attended the 22nd Oslo Forum. He said, for a long time, I have visited China many times through government and inter-party channels, establishing close ties with China. Last year, I visited China on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Norway and China and had successful meetings with Chinese leaders including President Xi Jinping. Norway is willing to strengthen cooperation with China across fields including ocean, environmental protection, modern green technology, and the Arctic to further promote the development of bilateral relations. Norway is a small country, but it is committed to maintaining peace. Norway appreciates China's important role in international affairs and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China in multilateral institutions such as the United Nations. The Labour Party stands ready to strengthen exchanges and dialogues with the CPC.
Liu noted that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, China-Norway relations have continuously maintained sound and steady development, with increasingly close exchanges and cooperation across politics, economy, culture, and other fields. China is willing to work with Norway to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance political mutual trust, deepen cooperation in maritime affairs, environment, green transformation, and further consolidate the good development momentum of bilateral relations. At a time when profound changes unseen in a century are accelerating, humanity is facing numerous major challenges. Norway plays an important role in international affairs, particularly in conflict mediation. China stands ready to enhance multilateral coordination with Norway to jointly safeguard world peace and stability.
Liu expressed that the CPC is willing to strengthen political dialogue with all political parties in Norway, including the Labour Party, to enhance mutual understanding. At present, the CPC is leading the Chinese people to advance Chinese modernization in all respects, further deepen reform across the board, and expand high-level opening up. China is willing to share opportunities with all countries in the world, including Norway.
The two sides also had in-depth exchanges of views on international and regional issues such as the Ukraine crisis.
