Beijing, July 17th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Jan Adams, Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Liu said, the day before yesterday, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who was on an official visit to China, and they conducted strategic communication on China-Australia relations, charting the course for future development of bilateral relations. China regards Australia as a friend and partner and is willing to work with Australia to implement the new important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen cooperation in various fields, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, maintain a correct understanding of each other, respect each other's core interests, properly manage differences, and promote the further and better development of China-Australia relations to better benefit the people of the two countries. China's development requires a peaceful external environment. Australia is an important country in the Asia-Pacific region. China is willing to strengthen dialogue and communication with Australia and other Asia-Pacific countries, enhance bilateral and multilateral coordination, and jointly maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and promote regional development and prosperity. The CPC has long maintained friendly exchanges with the Australian Labor Party, the Liberal Party and the National Party of Australia. The CPC is willing to deepen exchanges with all Australian political parties to enhance mutual understanding and trust.
Jan Adams thanked China for the thoughtful arrangements made for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's visit. Jan Adams said, the visit to China by people from all walks of life in Australia, including business, finance, education and agriculture, and their in-depth dialogue and exchanges with China, as well as the promotion of cooperation in various fields between the two countries, sent a signal of positive progress in Australia-China relations. Australia attaches great importance to its relations with China. Maintaining a stable relationship between the two countries is conducive to peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region. Australia adheres to the one-China policy and does not support "Taiwan independence". Australia is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with China, enhance political dialogue, manage differences in a wise way and avoid misunderstandings and misjudgments. China's development is of great significance to regional and global economic growth. Australia is willing to enhance inter-party exchanges with China, promote practical cooperation in various fields, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and contribute to regional and global development.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
