Beijing, July 22nd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia led by George Volski, member of the Bureau of the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia and the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.
Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Georgia have always respected each other and treated each other sincerely. The current strategic partnership between the two countries is maintaining a positive momentum of development. China is willing to work with Georgia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, deepen exchanges and cooperation in politics, economy, culture and other fields, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote greater development of bilateral relations. Georgia is located at the junction of Europe and Asia. Against the backdrop of the profound and complex changes in the international situation, Georgia's role in maintaining the international and regional security environment is very important. China has always adhered to the path of peaceful development and an independent and peaceful foreign policy, and is committed to providing stability to the world through its own stability. China is willing to work with Georgia to strengthen cooperation in international affairs, jointly address global challenges, work for more just and equitable global governance, and contribute to world peace, stability and development.
Liu said, at present, the CPC is leading the Chinese people to further deepen reforms comprehensively and expand high-level opening-up, and promote Chinese modernization. On the path of pursuing modernization, the exchanges and cooperation between the ruling parties of the two countries have strategic significance. The CPC is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges and political dialogue with the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia, deepen experience exchanges in party building and state governance, and promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation between think tanks and media through inter-party channels to better support the development and revitalization of the two countries.
Volski said, Georgia and China are reliable strategic partners. Georgia was one of the first countries to respond to and actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative. Georgia looks forward to further strengthening high-level exchanges with China and deepening cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, education, culture and tourism, so that the Georgia-China relationship will always be a fine example of equality and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes. Georgia's geographical location is special. The government of the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia adheres to a policy of strategic autonomy and pragmatism in foreign affairs and is committed to maintaining a lasting peaceful and stable regional environment.
