Singapore, July 23rd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held here today a political dialogue between the CPC and the People's Action Party (PAP) with Chee Hong Tat, Chairman of the PAP Policy Forum Council and Minister for National Development of Singapore.
Liu congratulated the Republic of Singapore on its 60th founding anniversary. Liu said, successive leaders of China and Singapore have devoted great efforts to promote the stable development of bilateral relations. In recent years, under the joint guidance of President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Singapore, China-Singapore relations have been upgraded to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership. The two countries have maintained a high degree of political mutual trust, enhanced mutual understanding through deepening cooperation, and set a fine example of equal coexistence and common development between countries of different sizes. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. China is willing to work with Singapore to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue to firmly grasp the general direction of China-Singapore friendship, firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, deepen the integration of development strategies, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and friendship, and better benefit the people of the two countries.
Liu said, last year, with the joint efforts and close communication and coordination of both sides, the two Parties reached important consensus on establishing an annual delegation exchange mechanism and exchanged visits, which is a milestone in the history of exchanges between the two Parties. The CPC is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges with the PAP, deepen experience exchanges in party building and state governance, and push the relationship between the two Parties to a new level. Liu also introduced the history of the CPC and relevant situation of the party building.
Chee Hong Tat said, Singapore and China have enjoyed in-depth exchanges and fruitful cooperation across various domains, reflecting the high level of bilateral relations. In a world marked by transformation and turbulence, Singapore and China, by enhancing dialogue and communication, strengthening political mutual trust, and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, can serve as a model for countries in exploring new patterns of win-win cooperation. The PAP is ready to work with the CPC to enhance mutual learning in areas such as long-term national development planning, cadre training, and nurturing future leaders, and intensify exchanges between young cadres of both Parties to enhance governance capacity-building, so as to better serve the peoples and jointly address the governance challenges the two Parties face in the new era.
Cao Zhongming, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, and Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Transport of Singapore, were present.
