Beijing, November 19th—The Fifth China-Pacific Island Countries Political Leadership Dialogue, hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) was held here today, with the theme of Deepen Exchanges and Cooperation to Build a Closer China-Pacific Island Countries Community with a Shared Future. Liu Haixing, Minister of the IDCPC, Stephen Dorrick Felix, Speaker of the Parliament of Vanuatu and Member of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu, and political leaders and envoys from Pacific Island countries, including Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga, attended the event.

Liu said, the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was successfully held recently, and the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development were reviewed and approved, outlining the blueprint for China's economic and social development in the next five years. China will continue to promote green, low-carbon and high-quality development, adhere to opening up, cooperation and mutual benefit, actively expand voluntary and institutional opening up, and is willing to work with Pacific Island countries to achieve green transformation, enhance economic and trade exchanges, and share development opportunities.
Liu said, President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to China’s relations with Pacific Island countries, has held two collective meetings with leaders of Pacific Island countries that have established diplomatic relations with China, and has promoted the rapid development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides. China appreciates the commitment of Pacific Island countries to the one-China principle. Under the new circumstances, China is willing to work with Pacific Island countries to take the important consensus reached by the leaders of both sides as the fundamental guideline, implement the four major global initiatives, and work together to build a closer China-Pacific Island countries community with a shared future. The CPC is willing to work with political parties and politicians of Pacific Island countries to be a leading force for consensus-building, a demonstration force for mutual learning, and a driving force for practical cooperation, and sail the ship of friendship between China and Pacific Island countries.

The political leaders of Pacific Island countries attending the dialogue said, China is not only a development partner of Pacific Island countries, but also a strategic partner, helping the Pacific Island countries enhance connectivity and development resilience, and bringing benefits to the people of the region. They expressed gratitude for China's long-term support for the economic and social development of Pacific Island countries. The four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping are visionary and highly consistent with the future vision of Pacific Island countries. They expressed the willingness to work with China to promote implementation of the initiatives, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, and promote regional peace, stability, development and prosperity. Political parties of Pacific Island countries are ready to strengthen exchanges and dialogues with the CPC, enhance mutual understanding and trust, deepen policy communication and coordination, and promote cooperation in areas such as cadre training, green transformation and the Belt and Road cooperation, to build a closer China-Pacific Island countries community with a shared future.
Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, presided over the dialogue. Representatives from the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision at the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the China International Development Cooperation Agency, officials at the local level and representatives from universities were present.

Before the dialogue, Liu met with the political leaders and envoys of Pacific Island countries attending the event to exchange views on promoting inter-party exchanges and cooperation.
