Liu Haixing Meets with a Delegation of Serbian Progressive Party

Beijing, November 21stLiu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) led by Petar Petkovic, a member of the Presidium of the SNS and Director of the Office for Kosovo of the Serbian Government.

Liu said, since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandar Vučić have met twice and reached important consensus on a series of major issues, further charting the course for the development of the China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era. The CPC is willing to work with the SNS to take the lead in implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance institutionalized exchanges at all levels, promote practical cooperation in areas such as the Belt and Road cooperation through the "political party +" platform, and strengthen mutual support in safeguarding respective sovereignty, security and development interests, so as to promote greater development of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries. Recently, the fourth plenary session of the CPC 20th Central Committee was successfully held in Beijing, which adopted the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, providing a clear direction for China's development, injecting certainty and stability into the world, and offering new opportunities for China-Serbia cooperation. 

Petkovic said, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Serbia-China cooperation in all fields is at its highest historical level. Serbia firmly adheres to the one-China principle, supports China's positions on issues concerning Taiwan, Xizang, Xinjiang, and human rights, and opposes any separatist forces and activities. Serbia resolutely supports the Belt and Road Initiative and the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is willing to continue close cooperation with China in multilateral forums such as the United Nations to jointly uphold international fairness and justice. The SNS places great importance on its friendly relations with the CPC. The exchanges between the two Parties have played a significant role in promoting cooperation in various fields and the development of bilateral relations. It is willing to further deepen the institutionalized exchanges between the two Parties, strengthen experience exchanges in party building and state governance, and strengthen cooperation in various fields to better advance the building of a community with a shared future between Serbia and China.
