Beijing, April 2nd—Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Ri Ryong Nam, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to China, and listened to the briefing by the DPRK side on the relevant situation of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

Liu said, China once again congratulates the successful convening of the Ninth Congress of the WPK, and sincerely wishes the people of the DPRK success in achieving the goals and tasks set forth at the Ninth Congress of the WPK, under the leadership of the WPK Central Committee headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un. In recent years, General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong Un have maintained strategic communication through various forms, drawing a blueprint for the development of China-DPRK relations. China is willing to work with the DPRK to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, strengthen strategic communication and practical cooperation, consolidate the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK, and promote the steady and long-term development of the socialist cause of both countries.
Entrusted by the WPK Central Committee, Ri briefed on the relevant situation of the Ninth Congress of the WPK. He said, the Ninth Congress of the WPK set forth the development direction and policy objectives for the WPK and the country over the next five years, and elected a new Central Committee. Kim Jong Un's re-election as General Secretary of the WPK marks a significant milestone for the development of the socialist cause in the DPRK. He said that continuously consolidating and developing the traditional DPRK-China friendship is the firm will of the WPK. The WPK stands ready to strengthen unity and cooperation with the CPC, and promote the sustained development of DPRK-China relations and the socialist cause of both countries.
