Cairo, May 17th—Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Chairman of the Homeland Protectors Party of Egypt. 

Liu said, over the 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, the two sides have always trusted each other, cooperated sincerely and developed hand in hand, regardless of changes in the international landscape. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, China-Egypt political mutual trust has been continuously consolidated, with fruitful results in practical cooperation. The two countries have maintained close communication and coordination on international and regional affairs. China appreciates Egypt’s adherence to a correct position on the Taiwan question and issues concerning, Xinjiang and Hong Kong. China-Egypt relations have become a model for solidarity, cooperation and mutual benefit between China and Arab, African, Islamic and developing countries. Standing at a new starting point, China stands ready to work with Egypt to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns, further align the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt’s Vision 2030, strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, and stand side by side in the pursuit of national development and rejuvenation, promotion of regional peace and security, and safeguarding of international fairness and justice. The CPC is willing to engage in close exchanges at all levels with Egypt’s major political parties including the Homeland Protectors Party, enhance political dialogue, deepen mutual learning of concepts in party governance and state administration, promote practical cooperation and people-to-people bonds between the two countries through the “political party+” platform, and advance the development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership. 

Abbas welcomed Liu and the CPC delegation to Egypt, stating that China boasts a time-honored history and civilization and holds an extremely important position in today’s world. Since its founding more than 100 years ago, the CPC has led China to remarkable achievements in political, economic and social development. In particular, it has consistently drawn wisdom and strength from China’s fine traditional culture, providing valuable experience for the world to learn from. In recent years, Egypt and China have respected each other’s sovereignty, independence and chosen development paths, deepened political mutual trust, carried out extensive practical cooperation and increased people-to-people exchanges, becoming reliable cooperative partners for each other. Faced with a more volatile international and regional situation, the Homeland Protectors Party stands ready to strengthen political dialogue and strategic communication with the CPC, deepen exchanges of experience on state governance and administration, promote further development of Egypt-China relations, and contribute to safeguarding world peace and stability and advancing common development of all countries. 

Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, and Tarek Nasseer, Secretary-General of the Homeland Defenders Party, attended the meeting.
