Cairo, May 18th—The inauguration ceremony for the Xi Jinping Diplomatic Thought Studies Unit at the Tahrir Center for Studies and Research was held here today. Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended the event, together with Essam Sharaf, former Egyptian Prime Minister, Mohamed Orabi, former Egyptian Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, and others. 

In his address, Liu noted, amid an international landscape of complex and intertwined changes, General Secretary Xi Jinping has profoundly grasped the general trend of world development, reflected deeply on the future of humanity, made the major judgment that the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and put forward a series of pioneering new concepts, thoughts and initiatives, including the building of a community with a shared future for humanity. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, China adheres to the path of peaceful development, continuously expands high-level opening-up, and shares development opportunities with the world. Visionary people from all countries generally speak highly of the broad vision and global perspective of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. The Arab world widely recognizes that it provides important enlightenment for China and Arab states to accurately grasp the direction of human development and progress and advance modernization hand in hand. 

Liu stated, on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, and between China and the Arab states, the establishment of the Xi Jinping Diplomatic Thought Studies Unit at the Tahrir Center for Studies and Research is a pioneering move to further deepen all-round exchanges and cooperation between China and Egypt, and between China and the Arab states. The CPC stands ready to work with political parties and other relevant sectors in Arab states, relying on various exchange platforms including the Studies Unit, to conduct research, discussions and mutual learning on the concepts and practices of modernization, experience in state governance, strengthening regional cooperation, and responding to global and regional changes, jointly tell the stories of China-Egypt and China-Arab friendship, and contribute wisdom and strength to the steady development of China-Egypt and China-Arab relations, and to safeguarding peace and stability in the Middle East and promoting modernization of countries in the region. 

Sharaf, Orabi and other participants noted, under the leadership of the CPC, China has achieved remarkable development rarely seen in human history. The concept of a community with a shared future for humanity, the Belt and Road Initiative and a series of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping are conducive to promoting the establishment of a more balanced and stable world and advancing the common development of the Global South. Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy has become an important force shaping today’s world and the key to understanding China’s foreign policy. The international community, including Arab states, needs to understand China’s way of thinking and values in a more rational and scientific manner, better grasp China’s development direction and foreign policy, advance the modernization process together with China, and build a better world. 

The launch ceremony of the Egyptian edition of the magazine Contemporary World was also held on site.
