Beijing, June 11thLiu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore.

Liu stated, in recent years, China-Singapore relations have developed steadily. Last year, the two countries celebrated the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. President Xi Jinping held a productive meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during his visit to China, outlining a new blueprint for the development of bilateral relations under the new circumstances. Since the beginning of this year, exchanges between China and Singapore in various fields have become closer, and new progress has been made in exchanges and cooperation between political parties. The CPC is willing to work with Singapore to implement the series of important consensuses reached between President Xi Jinping and Singaporean leaders, continue to carry out institutionalized exchanges between political parties, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning on state governance and administration, explore "political party+" cooperation, promote exchanges at all levels, including legislative bodies, youth, and women, and strengthen communication and coordination on international affairs, so as to continuously elevate China-Singapore relations to a higher level. Singapore is one of the earliest countries to participate in and deeply integrate into China's reform and opening-up process. China is promoting high-quality development and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Singapore in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence. Liu also briefed on the education campaign on establishing and practicing a correct view on governance performance.

Seah Kian Peng noted, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China, the leaders of the two countries have maintained close communication. Fruitful cooperation projects in various fields have promoted the continuous development and innovation of Singapore-China relations. In particular, in 2023, the leaders of the two countries elevated bilateral relations to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, reflecting the willingness and efforts of both sides to continuously deepen Singapore-China relations. Singapore is willing to further strengthen exchanges with China in legislative bodies, political parties, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and deepen cooperation in areas such as the green economy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. Given the current complex and volatile international situation, as partners with the same vision, both Singapore and China cherish and uphold free trade, multilateralism, and the international order based on international law. Singapore is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in multilateral mechanisms such as ASEAN, and work together to address common challenges.

Cao Hongming, Vice Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, and Peter Tan, Singaporean Ambassador to China, attended the meeting.
