On April 21st, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) and the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee held a dialogue for foreign guests attending the "Stories of CPC – Achievements of Chongqing in Practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" Thematic Briefing in Chongqing. Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, and Li Mingqing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress attended the event. More than 60 representatives from political parties in more than 20 countries were present.
Sun said, political parties are the leading and driving force behind modernization. It is crucial for political parties of all countries to enhance political dialogue and deepen ideological exchanges in the process of exploring the path of modernization. The CPC is willing to deepen mutual learning and exchanges of experience in modernization construction with political parties of all countries, strengthen unity and cooperation, and inject more positive energy and certainty into the world.
Li said, the construction of a modernized new Chongqing is a microcosm of Chinese modernization. It is hoped that this event will serve as an opportunity to promote cooperation between Chongqing and various parties in areas such as industry, research, logistics, culture and tourism through the channel of exchanges and dialogues among political parties.
Foreign participants said, through this thematic briefing and related visits, we had an immersive experience of the vivid practice and achievements of Chinese modernization in Chongqing, and personally felt the sense of happiness and security of the people in Chongqing. We also deepened our understanding and recognition of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era. The fact that the CPC has transformed its governance concepts, policies and plans into concrete actions to ultimately achieve the goals of promoting development and benefiting the people has left a deep impression on all parties. We look forward to strengthening cooperation with China in areas such as party building, economy, trade, scientific and technological innovation, poverty alleviation, cultural inheritance, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and environmental protection.
Sun and Li also answered questions from the foreign side on issues such as grassroots democracy, green finance, artificial intelligence, coordinated regional development, and China-US relations.
