Beijing, April 23rdThe Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament held here today on the morning the 23rd Dialogue on China-US Relations, with the theme of "trajectory of China-US relations in Donald Trump's second term". Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and addressed the function.

Ma said, President Xi Jinping proposed the three principles, namely mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, which are the correct approach for China-US relations in the new era. A stable, healthy, and sustainable China-US relationship is in the common interests of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community.

Ma said, as President Donald Trump's second term approaches its 100th day, the US has initiated a tariff war and trade war, and China-US relations are at a crucial crossroads. Strategic professionals from both countries should enhance exchanges and dialogues, continuously build consensus, and meet each other halfway in the direction identified by the two heads of state, making due contributions to eliminating disturbances in China-US relations.

Stephen Biegun, former US Deputy Secretary of State, Michael Mullen, 17th Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, representatives of The "Inter Mediate" from the U.K. and scholars from the China Foreign Affairs University, the China Institute of International Studies, and the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations attended the event.

The participants believed that there are no winners in a trade war, and China and the US should enhance communication, seek new strategic balance points, explore new models of cooperation, and prevent China-US relations from falling into a downward spiral. Both sides also had in-depth exchanges of views on international and regional issues of common concern.
