Beijing, October 15th—Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of the Social Democratic Alliance of Iceland led by Guðmundur Stefánsson, Vice Chairman of the Social Democratic Alliance of Iceland.

Lu welcomed the first visit to China by the Social Democratic Alliance of Iceland at the invitation of the IDCPC. He said, yesterday, President Xi Jinping met with President of Iceland Halla Tomasdottir who came to China for the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, and made new strategic guidance for the development of China-Iceland relations. China is willing to work with Iceland to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote cooperation in areas such as geothermal energy, green transformation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries. The CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with the Social Democratic Alliance of Iceland, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and promote the sound and stable development of China-Iceland relations.
Stefánsson said, the meeting between President Halla Tomasdottir and President Xi Jinping was fruitful and of great significance to the development of Iceland-China relations. Iceland and China have a traditional friendship. It is hoped that both sides will make good use of the Iceland-China Free Trade Agreement and further strengthen cooperation in areas such as tourism and geothermal energy to promote common development. The Social Democratic Alliance of Iceland is willing to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen relations with the CPC.
