Beijing, April 29th—Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with the 3rd Future Leaders Programme Group of the Great Britain-China Centre (GBCC).

Lu noted, in January this year, President Xi Jinping met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during his official visit to China, providing strategic guidance for the development of a long-term and stable comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UK. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will adhere to high-quality development and high-level opening-up, which will bring more opportunities to countries around the world, including the UK. Against the current complex and volatile international landscape, China and the UK, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, should jointly advocate true multilateralism, strengthen dialogue and coordination, and jointly respond to global challenges. As most of the participants of the third group are visiting China for the first time, the IDCPC and relevant Chinese departments have arranged a rich itinerary for them. It is hoped that through field visits, the participants will gain a deeper understanding of China and the CPC.
The participants of the UK side expressed their delight at the opportunity to visit China. They noted, through this visit, they have witnessed China’s development achievements firsthand and recognized the enormous potential for closer exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK at all levels and in all fields. The GBCC stated its readiness to further strengthen cooperation with the IDCPC, help more participants of the Future Leaders Programme Group visit China, and enhance understanding of China.
In a friendly and warm atmosphere, Lu answered more than 20 questions raised by the group covering China-UK relations, China-US relations, China-Africa cooperation, the Ukraine crisis, the Gulf situation, and artificial intelligence security.
During their visit to China, the participants also attended an event titled "Youth Dialogue: Gen Z Power and New Hope" hosted by the IDCPC and visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China and Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province.
