Lu Kang Attends the 10th China-U.S. Civil Peace Forum

Wenzhou, June 24thThe 10th China-U.S. Civil Peace Forum was held here today at Wenzhou-Kean University. Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech. 


Lu said that every step forward in China-U.S. relations depends on the deep nourishment of people-to-people friendship. As profound changes unseen in a century accelerate across the globe, China-U.S. relations stand at a new historical crossroads. President Xi Jinping held a historic meeting with President Donald Trump, during which they agreed on a new vision of building a constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability, providing strategic guidance for the development of China-U.S. relations. Chinese and U.S. civil society should work together to deliver on the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, and deepen the friendship between the Chinese and American peoples, deepen strategic communication and nurture a rational and correct perception, expand practical cooperation and continuously improve people's well-being, and shoulder historical responsibility to jointly safeguard world peace and prosperity. 



The forum was hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament, co-organized by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Wenzhou Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Wenzhou Municipal People's Government and Wenzhou-Kean University.  Zhang Wenjie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wenzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wenzhou, Marcel Arsenault, CEO & Founder of the Arsenault Family Foundation of the United States, and David Rank, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and former Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in China, delivered remarks at the forum. More than 100 representatives from various sectors of China and the U.S. were present.
