On June 25th, the CECC in Dialogue with European business community was held at the Museum of the Communist Party of China. Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. Representatives from the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as executives of major European companies operating in China, participated in the event. Prior to the dialogue, the foreign participants toured Staying True to the Original Aspiration and Founding Mission Exhibition on the History of the Communist Party of China.

Ma briefed the guests on the glorious journey of the CPC's century-long struggle, stressing that upholding the Party's leadership is the most essential feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the greatest strength of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The planning of China's 15th Five-Year Plan is currently advancing in an orderly manner and high-quality economic development is moving forward with firm strides. Chinese modernization will provide valuable opportunities for multinational companies, including European enterprises, to grow their business in China. It is hoped that the European business community will continue to deepen cooperation with China, firmly resist trade protectionism, and work together to uphold the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains.

Xu Qiyuan, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhang Monan, Deputy Head of the Institute of American and European Studies at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, introduced China's 15th Five-Year Plan, China's economic situation, and China-Europe economic and trade cooperation, and expounded on China's positions and views on the European side's concerns such as "trade imbalances" and "unfair competition."

The foreign participants said that through the visit to the Museum of the Communist Party of China, they had gained an in-depth understanding of the CPC's development journey and remarkable achievements, which not only deepened their understanding of China's development logic and the policy context, but also strengthened their confidence in China's development prospects. European companies in China are bullish on China's opening-up opportunities and innovation vitality, and hope to leverage platforms such as the CECC in Dialogue to deepen dialogue and exchanges with the Chinese side, deepen the alignment of their corporate development strategies with China's medium- and long-term development plans, continue to cultivate the Chinese market, expand their business in China, and promote the development of Europe-China economic and trade relations.

Both sides agreed that China-Europe economic and trade relations are mutually complementary and win-win in nature, and that both sides have long benefited from them. There are no winners in a trade war or a tariff war, and both sides endorsed jointly making the pie of economic and trade cooperation bigger and resolving economic and trade frictions and differences through consultation and negotiation.

The event was covered on the spot by media including China Daily, CCTV.com and China News Service.
