Wang Jiarui meets with Utah state legislators

BEIJING, Sept. 7 -- Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui met on the morning of the 7th in Beijing with the delegation of the Utah Legislature led by Wayne Niederhauser, President of the State Senate and Rebecca Lockhart, Speaker of the State House of Representatives.

Wang said that China, the world’s largest developing country and the United States, the largest developed country can bring benefit to each other and the rest of the world only through cooperation. Acting in accordance with the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, China and the U.S. should push for a greater synergy by interaction between legislative organs, political parties and people on the two sides, so as to enhance mutual understanding and build a new model of major-country relationship based on mutual respect, cooperation and win-win results. I hope that the state legislature and various other sectors of Utah will continue to make greater contribution to friendly cooperation between China and the United States.

The Senate Speaker said that the delegation is deeply impressed by China’s economic and social progress, and that their legislature is willing to play an active part in enhancing friendship between the two peoples and promoting practical cooperation.

Vice minister of the International Department Yu Hongjun was present at the meeting.
