BEIJING, April 12 -- Vice-Minister Liu Jieyi of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee attended the luncheon of China-New Zealand Partnership Forum held jointly by China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) and the New Zealand China Council of New Zealand at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and addressed the audience. Liu spoke about the situation of the Asia-Pacific as much as China's foreign policy based on the ideas of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit. When talking about the meaning of the Chinese dream, he emphasized that the realization of the Chinese dream will promote not only the well-being of the Chinese people but also the shared interests of the whole world, in particular countries in the Asia-Pacific region, New Zealand included. China looks forward to working together with New Zealand and having a common development agenda that covers a wider range of goals so as to bring benefit to peoples of both countries and the whole region.
Over 150 personages attended the event including Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key, the Council Chairman Don McKinnon, a leading official from the CCIEE, the Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Xu Jianguo, several ministers and vice-ministers and a number of business leaders from China and New Zealand.
New Zealand China Council, launched last year by Prime Minister John Key, is based on New Zealand's China Strategy 2011-2015 and aimed at promoting overall cooperation and development of New Zealand's relations with China.
