Liu Jieyi holds talks with the delegation of political leaders of Pacific Island countries

BEIJING, May 8 -- Vice-minister Liu Jieyi of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee held talks here today with the delegation of political leaders of Pacific Island countries led by Agafili Patisela Eteuati Tolovaa, deputy speaker of the Parliament of Samoa, and Lord Havea Tuihaateiho, deputy speaker of the Parliament of Tonga.

Liu said the attainment of the Chinese dream of the great renewal of the Chinese nation will bring benefit not only to the Chinese people but also peoples of other countries around the world including those of the Pacific Island countries.

China stands ready to work together with Pacific Island countries to promote peace, stability, development and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the developing countries. The Communist Party of China is willing to deepen the inter-party exchanges and cooperation with parties of island nations and facilitate the continued growth of relations with the Pacific Island countries.

The delegation is paying a visit to China to obtain true knowledge about this country and the Communist Party of China. The Pacific Island countries appreciate China's concept of win-win cooperation and China's sincere support to them over the years. They are willing to join China in deepening the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

The delegation includes political leaders and media representatives from Samoa and 5 other Pacific Island countries. Part of the delegation made up of the 12 members from Papua New Guinea led by John Simon, chairman of Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the country's National Parliament, paid a visit to Guangdong Province before coming to Beijing and the rest of the delegation including the leaders from Samoa will pay an inspection tour to Shaanxi and Zhejiang Province to look at China's poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
