Beijing, September 17th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a multi-party study group of Brazilian Parliament members led by Chico Rodrigues, vice leader of the Federal Senate and Democratic Senator.
Song said that China and Brazil are the largest developing countries in eastern and western hemisphere respectively and the most representative emerging economies. Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship 45 years ago, China-Brazil relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes and maintained long-term stable and healthy development. The two countries have cemented communication in international affairs and safeguarded the common interests of developing countries. The CPC attaches importance to friendly exchanges with various political parties in Brazil. The delegation members this time, consisting of the main Brazilian ruling and opposition parties, are highly representative. Such gesture fully demonstrates the great importance the various parties in the Brazilian Parliament attach to developing relations with China. We are willing to exchange experience in state governance and administration with the Brazilian side and learn from each other, and help promote China-Brazil practical cooperation through inter-party contacts.
Rodrigues said that Brazil and China have always maintained friendly relations. Although the two countries are geographically far apart, they share many similar concepts and strong economic complementarities. He hoped that the two sides will further strengthen cooperation in areas including agriculture, energy and infrastructure to promote the continuous development of Brazil-China relations.
